Name-Based Adams County Case Searches
Open Indiana Courts Case Search, MyCase, and select the Name tab. A person search requires a last name unless a business name is used. First name, middle name, and date of birth can narrow lawful searches. Choose Adams Circuit Court or Adams Superior Court, add Open, Closed, or All status, and set either edge of the filing-date range when useful.
- Open MyCase and select the Name tab.
- Enter the last name and add first or middle name when known.
- Select Adams Circuit or Superior and narrow the filing dates.
- Compare the court, case type, filing date, and status.
- Read the CCS and verify that the public header matches the matter.

| Status and file date | Reduce a broad result without assuming closed means sealed. |

Adams County Case Number Searches
Indiana Administrative Rule 8 divides a case number into court identifier, year and month, case type, and sequence. Adams Circuit uses 01C01-YYMM-XX-######. Adams Superior uses 01D01-YYMM-XX-######. Search the number as printed by the Clerk or notice. MyCase may accept omitted hyphens or leading zeros, but the exact display is safest.
The type code is a category, not a result. CM identifies a misdemeanor, IF an infraction, SC a small claim, and EV an eviction. The final digits distinguish the filing from others in that court and month.
Adams County Case Search Results Explained
A public result can show the case number, filing date, court, judicial officer, case type, style, status, public parties and attorneys, CCS events, hearing settings, permitted document links, balances, disposition, and citation fields. Read the header first. It establishes which local court owns the case.
| Case number | Court, filing month, type, and sequence. |
|---|---|
| Style and parties | The public caption and permitted party names. |
| Case type | The Indiana record category, not the result. |
| Filed date | The date the case entered the court system. |
| Status | Open or closed; closed does not mean sealed. |
Narrow Broad Adams County Results
Official MyCase search tips warn that a statewide query can exceed 1,000 results. Add Adams Circuit or Superior and a filing period before assuming the case is absent. The sounds-like control can help with spelling variants.
A trailing wildcard works as a starts-with search where supported. It is not an arbitrary wildcard on both sides. If a query fails, remove uncertain details one at a time while keeping the Adams court filter. Statewide name-only searches tend to add noise.
Two Ways to Search: County and State
Adams County does not operate a separate local public case database. MyCase is the statewide public layer for both local Odyssey courts. A statewide query can discover an uncertain county, while selecting Adams Circuit or Superior turns the same system into a precise local search. The Clerk is the county source for official copies, certification, current balances, and material not published online.
| Statewide MyCase | Adams County channel |
|---|---|
| Odyssey courts across Indiana | MyCase filtered to 01C01 or 01D01 |
| Public CCS data and selected documents | Clerk copies and certification behind the search |
| Best when county is uncertain | Best when the Adams court or number is known |
Which Adams County Cases Stay Restricted
Indiana Access to Court Records Rules 4 and 5 begin with public access but exclude protected material. Juvenile, mental-health, sealed, expunged, confidential statutory, medical, privileged, victim or witness, and temporary warrant information can be absent or redacted. Protection-order cases use the separate Indiana Protection Order Registry rather than MyCase.
Not online does not mean nonexistent. The official MyCase access matrix shows that document access differs by case code. Rule 9 supplies a verified request process for excluded material under extraordinary-circumstances or public-interest standards. The court gives notice, permits a response, and keeps the material confidential while deciding.
Older Adams County Odyssey Events
Adams Circuit and Superior joined Odyssey on August 19, 2019. Older information imported into the system may carry a converted-event label. That label can represent legacy data without a matching modern filing image. It should be read as part of the chronology, not as proof that every older paper is downloadable.
If an older filing is missing, stop refreshing MyCase and contact Shelly M. Brite, Clerk of the Adams County Circuit Court. Requests can be made at 112 S. 2nd Street, Room A, by mail, by email with the official copy form at clerksoffice@adamscounty.in.gov, or by phone at 260-724-5309. Public counter hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., closed noon to 1:00 p.m.
Adams County MyCase Screens
The official MyCase search route presents the public starting point for Adams County docket searches.

The route leads to the same statewide service used for 01C01 and 01D01.
The official search template exposes the tabs, court control, status options, and file-date fields.

Those controls are why a filtered Adams County query is stronger than a statewide surname alone.
Adams County Search Help Layers
The judiciary's MyCase help material explains public limits, documents, browsers, and account access.

Help guidance supports public lookup but warns that online information is not the official court record.
The official search-tips page gives the narrowing and spelling controls.

Its advice is most useful when a name produces too many results or a legacy number is uncertain.
Adams County Access and Odyssey
The MyCase access matrix separates case visibility from document visibility.

A visible case header can therefore coexist with limited online pleadings or orders.
The official Odyssey court inventory confirms the local systems and their rollout.

The inventory ties the public search to Adams Circuit and Superior rather than a separate city or county portal.
When Adams County Search Stops
Contact the Clerk when the public search cannot establish an exact balance, locate a document image, resolve a converted entry, or supply a certified record. MyCase warns that online financial information may be incomplete or outdated. The Clerk can identify the correct court, calculate a copy request, and explain procedure, but staff cannot interpret the legal effect of an entry or disclose protected content.
The official Request for Copies of a Court Record form asks for the parties, case number, document title and filing date, number of copies, certification choice, delivery method, and requester contact information. Email, mail, and in-person delivery channels are documented. Copies cost $1 per page, and certification adds $3 per document. The office calculates the final total and does not promise a fixed turnaround time.
A phone call is useful before travel. Ask whether the record is public, whether it exists only on paper, which court holds it, and what identifying details will help the request. Bring identification for an in-person card payment. For a public but restricted-online document, the counter or copy process may be enough. For an excluded record, the applicable rule and court order control.
Case, citation, and cross-reference identifiers are alternatives on the Case tab. A citation format can differ by issuing agency, so enter it as printed. On the Attorney tab, an Indiana attorney number gives more precision than counsel's name. After opening a result, compare the case number, court, type, file date, and public parties before treating the chronology as the intended case.
Closed is a status, not an access rule. A closed case may remain public. A sealed or granted-expungement matter may vanish or become limited. Paternity matters filed before July 1, 2014 are generally confidential, while later cases are generally public unless another exclusion applies. Use the actual case code, order, and access rule rather than guessing from an empty result.
The current Odyssey inventory lists only 01C01 and 01D01 in Adams County. There is no listed city-court option for Decatur, Berne, Geneva, or Monroe. Traffic filings go to Superior. A city citation may begin with a local agency, but once filed it is found through the Adams court identifier, citation field, or Clerk channel.
Keep a simple record of the search terms used. Note the selected court, status, filing range, and date checked. This makes it easier to explain a failed query to Clerk staff and prevents the same broad search from being repeated. If MyCase shows a hearing but the separate Trial Court Calendar does not, the CCS, filed notice, and court confirmation take priority. The calendar covers only participating public hearings within its short date window. Likewise, a MyCase screenshot is a dated view, not a certified record or proof that the status has not changed.
Use the Adams County court schedule for the calendar controls and hearing fields after the case search identifies the correct court. That transition from case header to setting is safer than searching a common name in the calendar first.
