Locate Monroe Court Records

Start any Monroe court records hunt at the county level. Adams County runs the courts that hear Monroe cases, so a citation or lawsuit filed there carries an Adams Circuit or Superior Court case number rather than a town-court one. Monroe's own offices keep the town side of things: ordinances, Town Board meetings, utility accounts, and general administration. For Monroe court records, use MyCase with the right Adams court picked, the statewide calendar for a public hearing date, and the Adams County Clerk for official copies, balances, or older files. The case follows the county system even when the trouble started inside town limits.

Monroe Court Docket Searches

Monroe has no separate town-court identifier in the current Indiana Odyssey inventory. Every filed Monroe matter must be searched through Indiana Courts Case Search, called MyCase. Select Adams Circuit Court or Adams Superior Court. Traffic and ordinance cases file in Superior. Circuit takes the work Indiana law and local allocation assign to it.

  1. Read the citation, court notice, town document, or case number before searching.
  2. Use the Case tab for a case, citation, or cross-reference number.
  3. Use the Name tab when the number is unknown, then narrow by Adams court and filing dates.
  4. Check the case header, type, status, CCS events, and hearing entries.
  5. Use the Trial Court Calendar for a near-term participating public setting.
  6. Call or visit the Adams County Clerk for the official file, exact balance, or an absent document.

Monroe can still show up in an address, caption, agency reference, or underlying town record. That mention is not the court selection. The court identifier is the field that reliably signals jurisdiction.

Monroe's Official Town Record Trail

The official Town of Monroe site publishes municipal contacts, meeting material, utility options, and the town's ordinances. That official page lays out the town's own business, not any court docket.

For a local rule or board record, the town page is the right door. It is not an Adams court CCS, though.

Inside Monroe Court Routing

No Monroe court of record exists in the current official inventory. Town hall registers vehicles. It also takes utility money, keeps ordinances, and documents meetings. Judicial records belong to Adams Circuit or Adams Superior once a matter is filed. The Adams County Clerk, as elected record keeper, supports both courts.

Routing fact: No Monroe court search appears in Odyssey, so use an Adams court identifier without assuming that local ordinance enforcement does not occur.

This split keeps a town action from being mistaken for a court disposition. An ordinance can create a local duty. The CCS, though, shows whether a related judicial case exists and what the court actually did with it.

Inside the Monroe Court System

A Monroe traffic or ordinance case files in Adams Superior Court. That court carries the identifier 01D01. A felony, civil, probate, domestic, or other Monroe-connected matter may land in Superior or Adams Circuit Court. Circuit is identified as 01C01, under the local allocation. MyCase opens the public CCS and selected documents for both. The Adams County Clerk keeps the official records and the financial entries behind them.

The Clerk's counter sits at 112 S. 2nd Street, Room A, Decatur, IN 46733. The general record line is 260-724-5309. Superior Court is at 122 S. 3rd Street and lists 260-724-5347. Before driving over, a Monroe resident should settle one question. Is the Clerk counter or a courtroom the real destination?

Finding Monroe Court Dates

The statewide Trial Court Calendar searches by county, court, and date, never by town. Pick Adams County and the court shown in MyCase or on your notice. Its public window spans seven days back to four weeks ahead. Only participating public settings appear.

CountyAdams County, not Monroe
CourtAdams Circuit or Adams Superior
Date and timePublic setting within the calendar window
EventInitial hearing, pretrial, trial, review, sentencing, or another setting

What if the calendar stays silent while the CCS or notice shows a setting? Trust the notice and confirm with the court directly. A continued or reset entry only moves the date; it does not dismiss the case.

Monroe Board Meetings vs Hearings

A Monroe Town Board meeting is a municipal-government event. An Adams hearing is a judicial setting. The town website may publish an agenda, minutes, or meeting schedule. But none of that replaces a court calendar result or changes a CCS.

Check who issued the record and in what format. A town agenda names the board and its civic business. A court notice names Adams Circuit or Superior, carries a uniform number, and labels the hearing type. When the same local topic appears in both systems, keep the records apart. Confirm each with its own custodian.

Monroe Traffic Ticket Lookups

A citation written in Monroe goes to Adams Superior Court once filed. Indiana traffic ePayment searches by UTT number, driver's-license number, or name and date of birth. MyCase gives the broader CCS by citation, case number, cross reference, or name. Maybe the ticket has not posted. Maybe online payment is unavailable. Then call the Adams traffic line at 260-724-5312 or 260-724-5300 extension 2110.

An ePayment result can display the ticket date, court, case number, and offense. It also shows the balance, fee lines, copy controls, and plea choices. Not every ticket qualifies. Paying counts as an admission or no-contest plea. It carries the effect of a judgment. Anyone who wants to contest the citation should follow the notice instead of paying. The Adams County traffic court page walks through the full county process.

Monroe Payments Are Separate Records

The Monroe site describes town utility payments and a 3% online processing fee. That municipal charge is not a court cost, citation fee, or Clerk copy fee. Paying a utility account through PayGov cannot settle an Adams Superior Court balance.

The payment recipient and the receipt show which ledger actually changed. Check a court payment against the CCS or the Clerk's balance. Don't infer it from a town account screen.

Older Monroe Ticket Payments

The Adams traffic page sends tickets dated before December 31, 2013 to Eagle Accounts. That county-linked service handles the older citation payments.

Think of this as a payment route for aging accounts. It is not its own Monroe docket. The court record and its disposition live with the Adams County Clerk or in MyCase. The court side changed in August 2019, when Adams Circuit and Superior both joined Odyssey. Older Monroe cases may show converted events or fewer online images. That is because of the switch. When the portal will not resolve the record, hand the Clerk the old ticket number and an approximate date. Give the name and an agency reference too.

How Monroe Cases Reach Adams County

Monroe has no town-court identifier. So its judicial path starts at the county trial-court level, not inside the town itself. Traffic and ordinance filings land in Superior, while other matters split between Superior and Circuit according to case type and local rules.

Docket flow: Monroe ordinance, citation, or dispute › Adams Circuit or Superior filing › Adams County Clerk CCS and case file › Indiana appellate system if appealed

The case number itself tells you plenty. A code like 01D01-YYMM-XX-###### points to Superior, while 01C01-YYMM-XX-###### points to Circuit. The type code may mark IF, OV, CM, SC, CC, or another category, though it never proves an outcome; for the full two-court structure, see the county-wide Adams County court docket.

Monroe Ordinance 2025-5

Monroe Ordinance 2025-5 covers golf carts and utility-terrain vehicles. Its registration and inspection trail through the town is municipal administration. That trail is not, by itself, a state traffic docket. A local ordinance record can show the governing rule. It cannot establish that a citation or court case exists.

If a citation does get issued, read the issuing authority and the citation number closely. Search MyCase under Adams Superior. Try traffic ePayment if you qualify. Call the Clerk when the record stays absent. Remember that ordinance text never substitutes for Indiana traffic law, a filed CCS, or the court's order.

Who Can See Monroe Court Records

Indiana starts from openness. Access to Court Records Rule 4 begins with public access. It stays subject to Rule 5, statutes, redaction, and court orders. Even a public Monroe-connected case can hold papers that are not visible remotely. Juvenile, mental-health, sealed, expunged, protection-order, medical, victim or witness, and sensitive-identifier rules can all limit what you see. That is why checking the right channel matters. The separate Indiana Protection Order Registry exists for a reason. Protection-order cases do not surface in ordinary MyCase results.

Indiana Protection Order Registry access portal for protected case routing

That separate portal carries a lesson. "Not in MyCase" does not mean "no record," so use the correct official access route and never infer confidential details.

Access layers differ: A public CCS line, online image, in-person paper, party view, and certified copy can have different availability.

Monroe Certified Court Copies

Monroe residents use the same certified-copy process as everyone else in Adams County. The Clerk's Request for Copies of a Court Record form asks for your contact details, party names, case number, document title and date, copy count, certification choice, and delivery preference. Delivery can go by email, mail, or in person at the counter. You may email the form to clerksoffice@adamscounty.in.gov. Mailing it to Room A or bringing it in works just as well.

From there the Clerk tallies the total and reaches out to you. Certified copies go out by mail once payment clears. Paying by card at the counter requires state identification and may carry a nominal fee. The county publishes no fixed processing time.

Monroe's Census Scale and Court Route

Monroe is small even by Adams County standards. In the official April 1, 2020 Census TIGERweb table it ranked fourth among the county's four incorporated places, with 885 residents. The official incorporated-place table lists each town's population and rank.

A headcount proves rank and vintage. It says nothing about caseload, so population can never tell you how many Monroe cases get filed.

The structural fact is what helps searchers. Monroe keeps its municipal records in town, while judicial files run through two Adams courts and one elected Clerk.

When a Monroe Search Has No Match

A missing result calls for a channel check, not a conclusion. First confirm your source is a judicial record at all. A Monroe utility bill, golf-cart registration, Town Board minute, police administrative record, or ordinance text may stay with the town forever. It may never become a court case. Is the source a citation? Allow time for filing and posting. Then search the UTT or citation number in traffic ePayment and MyCase. Select Adams Superior rather than hunting for a Monroe court.

For a nontraffic matter, look for 01C01 or 01D01 in any number you hold. Search by that number exactly as written, keeping its court and type groups intact. With no number in hand, run the narrowest lawful name search. Use Adams court, status, and filing-date fields. MyCase can cap broad results and sometimes presents CAPTCHA. For that reason, a statewide name-only query does less good.

Call the Clerk when an expected case still will not appear. Hand staff the source document. Give an approximate filing date, party names, a citation or agency reference, and the kind of paper you need. Ask whether the matter is too new to show yet. It may be older than the online image collection, converted from a prior system, confidential, or filed under another category. For a date, compare the CCS. Check the notice and court confirmation. For a copy, name the document and date instead of requesting an undefined complete file. Those steps keep "no online match" separate from "no official record."
