Adams County Court Docket Adams County Court Docket

Search Adams County Court Docket

Which court holds the case, and how is its number coded? Answer those two and an Adams County search goes faster and lands on the right file. Indiana calls the public docket a Chronological Case Summary, or CCS, listing public case events, filings, settings, and outcomes for Adams County, Indiana matters. Search online, check a public hearing calendar, or get the official record from the clerk of the trial courts in Decatur. Remote access skips some documents. The public tools serve civil and criminal matters alike, and an Adams County court docket search that knows the court and the code reads them correctly.

MyCase Fields for Adams Dockets

The Indiana Judiciary's MyCase search tips lay out the controls worth knowing for an Adams County docket search. On the Case tab, enter a case number, citation, or cross-reference value. The Name tab handles people and businesses. Use the Attorney tab with a lawyer's name or number. Court, status, and file-date limits work across all of these. Remember what a query is, though. It is an index of the docket, not a pull of every paper in the clerk's file.

Court Dockets: What They Show

Think of an Adams County CCS as a dated log of court activity. It lists parties, attorneys, charges or claims, appearances, filings, orders, hearing settings, financial entries, and any disposition. Document links are hit or miss. A label on an event may just summarize an order. It may not show the signed paper itself. So treat the CCS as the route map. Treat the clerk's case file as the place the underlying public papers actually live.

Decode an Adams Case Number

Indiana's uniform numbering packs a whole filing history into one string. Adams County carries the code 01. The letter and digits that follow point to the court: 01C01 means Adams Circuit Court, and 01D01 means Adams Superior Court. Next come the year and month. Then comes a case-type code such as IF for infraction, CM for criminal misdemeanor, F6 for Level 6 felony, SC for small claims, or EV for eviction. A final sequence number closes it out.

CCS
Chronological Case Summary, Indiana's event-by-event register of actions.
Pending
A case that has not reached a recorded final disposition.
Reset
A setting moved to another date; it does not mean the case ended.
Disposition
The event or order resolving all or part of the matter.

The codes steer a docket search, nothing more. For the substance, open the Adams County court docket and read the entries in order.

Adams County Courts and Dockets

Adams County has two courts of record. Circuit Court generally takes the higher-level felonies along with specified probate and family matters. Superior Court handles misdemeanors, Level 6 and lower-level cases, small claims, much of the civil docket, and every traffic filing in the county. One elected clerk serves both. No Adams city or town court appears in Indiana's current Odyssey inventory.

Adams County Circuit Court docket information

This is the right court source for Circuit administration, though certified record copies still come from the Clerk. For the other division, the county publishes Adams Superior Court information separately.

That split matters when you confirm a hearing or phone a court, even though MyCase searches both divisions at once.

Adams County Court Dates

The statewide Trial Court Calendar can show public Adams hearings from seven days back through four weeks ahead, for courts that participate. Depending on the interface, search by county, court, date, case number, attorney, or party. A result names the court, hearing type, date, time, location, and a MyCase link. The window is narrow. Participation is voluntary, so an empty result does not mean no setting exists.

Check the CCS and the Adams County court schedule next. Then confirm anything urgent with the assigned court. A continuance moves a hearing; it never dismisses it. Calendar data can also shift after a notice goes out in the mail. The latest official entry plus direct court confirmation wins.

Odyssey Connected Adams in 2019

Indiana's official Odyssey inventory lists August 19, 2019 as the go-live date. Both Adams court identifiers switched on together. Behind the public tools, Odyssey manages CCS events, case numbers, calendars, bonds, financial activity, and images. MyCase is the public layer, not the whole database. The Trial Court Calendar is a narrower feed of hearing settings. Traffic ePayment simply processes eligible citations. Each service answers a different question. The Indiana Public Access Portal brings them together in one official place.

Adams Docket Volume in Context

Indiana's official court statistics offer scale without naming anyone. In 2024, the two Adams courts reported 3,855 new filings and 3,894 dispositions. Another 1,748 matters were pending at year end. The provisional 2025 workbook showed 3,452 new filings and 3,741 dispositions. It listed 1,470 pending at year end. Those totals mix many case types, so do not read them as counts of people or of criminal cases.

Superior Court's heavy infraction and violations-bureau workload explains why its numbers outrun Circuit Court's. For any single matter, search the actual CCS instead of guessing case type from county totals.

Docket Access Under Indiana Law

Indiana sets the rules for Adams County docket access. Its Rules on Access to Court Records govern the details. Rule 4 opens the courthouse records to the public. Rule 5 then pulls certain information back out, sealing it or redacting it from view. Remote MyCase access can be narrower than what a person gets at the clerk's counter. Juvenile matters, adoption records, and confidential health information may be limited. Victim or witness data, sealed filings, and certain warrant material may be unavailable.

Key Rules:

Access Rule 4 establishes the general public-access framework.

Access Rule 5 identifies confidential and excluded records.

Access Rule 9 provides a process to request access to an excluded record.

When an Adams Case Is Missing

An empty Adams County docket search can mean several things. The name may be spelled differently. The court filter may be set too tight, or the filing may be too new to post. Older images sometimes never migrated, and confidential information never appears at all. Run the full case number. Widen the date range and try both 01C01 and 01D01 before giving up. MyCase wildcard tools help with partial spellings too. One empty query never proves a case did not exist. The county's official court FAQ spells out the local routing for these situations.

Adams County court docket FAQ and access help

Still nothing? Give the Clerk the party name, an approximate year, the court, and any known case type. Requests for excluded records go through Rule 9, and approval is never automatic.

How the Clerk Keeps Dockets

Shelly M. Brite, Clerk of the Adams County Circuit Court, is the elected records officer for both trial courts. Her office takes in filings and court costs, tracks judgment and payment information, and handles the money in criminal, infraction, and traffic cases. Copy and certification requests run through the same office, delivered in person, by mail, by email under the form's instructions, or through its stated contact channels. The official Request for Copies of a Court Record form asks for enough detail to locate the case file.

Fees on the current form run $1 per page plus $3 per document for certification. The office calculates the exact total, and card requests require identification. Confirm fees before ordering. A certified copy comes from the Clerk, never from a browser printout.

Where a person lives does not decide where the court record sits. Decatur holds the county seat, and Berne, Geneva, and Monroe keep their own city or town records. A filed matter, though, gets an Adams court identifier no matter the town. Keep the citation number and the issuing agency name handy when the case began with a police ticket. Start with a MyCase search, then check the Trial Court Calendar if a hearing is likely. If nothing public turns up, call the traffic bureau or the Clerk. Local ordinance text may explain the rule behind a citation, but only the CCS and the court file show what happened once the case entered the court system.

Older records take a different path. Docket books and aged files may lack complete images in Odyssey, so give the Clerk an approximate year, a party name, the case type, and any prior cause number. Staff can point you to the right index and quote copy charges. Searching at the courthouse and searching from home are not the same thing. Likewise, what you pull from MyCase is not a certified record. That line matters. It keeps an Adams County court docket search honest about what the public portal actually holds.

City-by-City Adams County Dockets

Adams County contains four incorporated places: Decatur, Berne, Geneva, and Monroe. None carries a separate court identifier in Indiana's current Odyssey inventory. A city or town citation therefore routes into the Adams County system. Every traffic case files in Superior Court. Municipal sites still help with ordinances and police or marshal contacts. They cover meetings and city services too. But those pages are not a CCS. For an Adams County court docket, search MyCase. Use Adams Circuit or Superior, and rely on the Clerk for the official file.

The local courthouse-security rule prohibits weapons and deadly weapons, and the sheriff may conduct a noninvasive search at entry. Both courts close their counters from noon to 1:00 p.m., so plan a visit around that window, and calling ahead confirms which building holds the file before making the trip.
